HENI DRUGS PRIVATE LIMITED |
Introduction :
The company was established in 1995 for manufacturing newer
drugs, speciality chemicals and intermediates for the
pharmaceutical industries. It was registered with the
Directorate of Industries as an S.S.I unit on February 18,
1997, registration No: Permanent/112484605.
Newer drugs like
Bronopol, Phenylmercuric acetate, Phenylmercuric nitrate,
intermediates like Ninhydrin and speciality chemicals like
salts of Bismuth, Cadmium, Iodine and Mercury were developed
in the company's R&D laboratories under the guidance of
Mr. Hemendra Thakrar. Ms Nicole Thakrar and Ms Devika
Thakrar associated with him in the research activities and
they have developed the process for the manufacture of the
above products, starting with independently available raw
materials.
Ms Devika Thakrar
has persued a course in Biotechnology with emphasis on
downstream processing which integrate the knowledge of
chemical engineering with Biotechnology, which is going to
be the demand of the future. Among the biological
macromolecules, proteins constitute a group performing a
variety of roles. With an increased awareness of protein
molecular function and its applications, the demand for pure
proteins has rapidly increased. Ms Devika Thakrar has worked
out a novel bioseparation technique involving affinity
precipitation in
which the affinity macroligand specifically binds the target
protein from the crude mixture. She has also studied the
process of separation of Bromelain, a cystein protease,
present in both the stem and fruit of pineapple, using
different matrices through ion exchange interactions. Heni
Drugs Private Limited is planning to manufacture speciality
enzymes and the expertise of Ms Devika Thakrar will help in
establishing and successfully commercializing these
products.
